You are planning to have a city tour in Uganda but you are still confused of which city to visit? Choose Jinja for memorable experiences.

Jinja lies in southeastern Uganda, approximately 54 miles (87 km), by road, east of Kampala, the capital. The city is located on the shores of Lake Victoria, near to the source of the Nile River. Jinja is the largest metropolitan area in Jinja District, and is considered the capital of the Kingdom of Busoga.

Jinja is endowed with a variety of tourist attractions such as Mabira Forest, River Nile, Sugar plantations among others. Below is how you enjoy your trip in Jinja.

On your trip day, you will start your journey very early in the morning since you will be coming from Kampala and this road is known for traffic jam. You will pass via Mukono and have enroute stopover at Ssezibwa falls in Kayanja village. Ssezibwa falls are mostly known as being Buganda cultural heritage site where people go and seek for blessings, wealth and fortunes. A Care taker (traditional healer) at Ssezibwa falls performs ceremonies for those seeking love, children, a successful business deal or a good harvest.

Ssezibwa Falls are about seven meters high and with the sweet hissing sound created by the falling water forms beautiful scenery. Ssezibwa falls welcomes you with the presence of birds singing, sometimes by primates and the calmness of the waterfall but with an authentic sound only fulfilling cool weather even on a hot day surrounded by a patch of forest. People can also enjoy birdwatching since there is an area surrounding the Ssezibwa waterfalls which is covered by a forest which has a variety of birds over 50 bird species. Birders will find the place very amazing. Just at the foot of the falls one can spot African Finfoot and the Long-tailed Cormorant enjoying a swim.

From Ssezibwa, you may also by pass the kasaku tea estate in Lugazi where you will find locals who will teach you on how tea is planted, harvested and processed.

Later you will continue with your journey to Mabira Forest for zip lining.  On your stopover in Mabira, expect to view some primates like baboons, numerous tree species, birdlife and so much more attractions. Zip lining is at 50 USD.  Zip lining is done using spikes to climb a tall Kirundu tree to the first platform which is the starting point for this activity and is 18 meters above sea level.

At Mabira you may get some snacks (exclusive on fee charged for a trip) and later proceed to Jinja city where you will have your lunch at Jinja Nile resort.

After having some refreshments, take a tour to Bujagali falls and enjoy a boat cruise to the source of Nile. The boat cruise offers you an opportunity to explore the Samuka Island and enjoy leisure time as you admire the wonderful sceneries of the river. Later in the evening hours you can transfer back to Jinja Nile resort for dinner and overnight stay.

The following day after having your heavy delicious breakfast, your guide will drive you to the rafting point for a simple briefing about the activity. White water rafting gives you a chance to have fun in the adventurous grade five rapids that features gorgeous leaps and drops on the Nile River. After the wonderful adventure, join your driver guide for a transfer back to Kampala. If you arrive in the evening hours, the driver guide will take you at your hotel (Sheraton hotel) or drop you to Entebbe International Airport to catch up with your flight.
